The two lines very attractive by sight viz Powell- Mason and Powell Hyde lines and both of these lines begin at Powell and Market and the third line which is not much known to tourists but it is one of the most beautiful sites to see and it runs along the hilly California Street. Searching for free space:

The three lines of cable cars meet at California and Powell. This service can be obtained anywhere. Incase you are intending to catch at Powell and market, it is important to remember that n this case you need to wait about 45 minutes to an hour. Incase you want to avoid the crowds then you can probably purchase your ticket at Powell- Market booth, and then you can walk a few blocks from the Powell street to the next stop, here you will have to wait for a little shorter period of time.

California line

The Californian line runs along the 1.2 miles along the California Street from the Drumm Street to Van Ness Avenue, this line runs through the financial district, then finally to the awesome Nob hill neighborhood. Before getting into the ferry you can get into Ferry building in the Embarcadero on the Market Street. This is one of the best experiences to be enjoyed in San Francisco. Further to add more color to your experiences what you can do is go at the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant's tasting room and taste the world's most renowned wines from all over the world. Further you can also have a sample the oysters which have been harvested from the Tomales Bay.

The Californian line as stated earlier is well known for its beauty and is also known for its steep grade. As you look up from Drumm, you can have a beautiful view of the Powell cable line crossing California at the top of the Nob hill with a view of the cars and the tourists amidst the skies. And as you are progressing down near the top of the hill just Neel back and look at the architecture of the downtown of San Francisco bay and bay bridge as a backdrop.

Tips

It is important to note that you follow the rails on the street so that you are aware of the fact as to where the lines twist and turn.
